MTF Aquatics runs the UK’s only dedicated live auction platform for rare and exotic tropical fish. Every lot starts at its reserve price — visible, open, and competitive. Bid against other hobbyists in real time, and when the timer expires the highest bid wins. Past auctions have included Black Diamond stingrays, Albino Pearl stingrays, Fly River Turtles, Channa Barca, Serrasalmus piranha, and Red Florida Gar — species that rarely appear in UK retail at all, let alone at auction.
How the MTF Aquatics Auction Works
Each lot opens at its reserve price — the minimum we will accept for that animal. From there, bidding is open and ascending: you can see the current highest bid, place a higher one, and be outbid in return. When the auction timer expires, the highest bidder wins the lot outright.
The process in four steps:

Place your bid — you can bid multiple times, so bid what you're comfortable with and watch the lot
If you win, you'll receive a notification and payment must be made by 1pm the following day
Your fish is dispatched for next-day morning delivery, or collection can be arranged.

How does the bidding work?

Can I see the fish before bidding?
All auction listings include photos taken in our facility. For high-value lots such as stingrays, we include multiple angles and size reference. If you have a specific question about a lot before bidding, contact us directly.
Is there a buyer's premium or additional fee?
No. The winning bid is the final price. Delivery is charged at our standard shipping rate, shown at checkout.
What happens if my fish doesn't arrive alive?
All lots are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee. In the unlikely event of a DOA, contact us within one hour of delivery with an unboxing photo and we will arrange a replacement or refund.
How do I know when new auctions go live?
New lots are added as stock arrives — follow @MTFAquatics on Instagram for real-time updates, or subscribe to our email list.
Can I request a species for auction?
Yes — use our Request-a-Fish service and we will source it via transhipping. If multiple customers request the same species, we may auction it rather than list at fixed price.
